Dr. John Coe is Director of the Institute for Spiritual Formation and Professor of Spiritual Theology at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University.
He is a speaker, teacher, and writer in the areas of Spiritual Formation, life in the Spirit, and the integration of spirituality with psychological growth. Dr. Coe specializes in Spiritual Theology and Formation as well as the philosophical and theological foundations of integrating faith and learning. His research focuses on the nature of spiritual theology and emotional health, the history of Christian spirituality, the work of the Holy Spirit in personal transformation, and the connection between Christian spirituality, philosophy, theology, and human development.
Dr. Coe has authored and co-authored/edited a number of articles and books, including Where Prayer Becomes Real: How Honesty with God Transforms Your Soul (Baker, 2021), Embracing Contemplation: Reclaiming a Christian Spiritual Practice (IVP, 2019), and Psychology in the Spirit (IVP, 2010).
